An EMT may or may not perform some or all of these tasks, duties and responsibilities or may perform tasks, duties and responsibilities not listed. 1. Responsible for checking out vehicles and equipment on a daily basis and ensuring proper working order. 2. Responsible for the safe driving of the vehicle. 3. Responsible for maintaining all appropriate certifications. 4. Responsible for the knowledge of how to operate all equipment in the vehicle both BLS and ALS (if EMT is cleared to work on ALS ambulance). 5. Responsible for attending to patients as the patient attendant during a transport and treating to the appropriate level of care necessary. 6. Responsible for filling out all required paperwork, completing PR's and vehicle inspections. 7. Responsible for the safe transportation of personnel and patients including patient belongings and required paperwork for that transport. 8. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of County Polices and Protocols. 9. IF EMT is cleared to work on ALS ambulance, Responsible for setting up ALS equipment and assisting the Paramedic as necessary with patient care. 10. Responsible for operating equipment such as issolettes and ventilators during transports of 11. Cleaning yard, empting garbage, cleaning kitchenette, sweeping, and other duties as may be assigned by a supervisor or manager. 12. Must be able to carry up to 100lbs and able to carry patients up and down stairs on backboards, flats and stairchairs that weigh up to 200 pounds with a partner. Must be able to load the gurney into the ambulance with a 250lb patient on it. The following are Minimum requirements for the position of "EMT". 1. EMT card 2. CPR card 3.
