- Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate prehospital medical care.
- Adapts and adjusts the patient's care plan according to the patient's needs in the prehospital setting.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care.
- Must be able to transport a behavioral health patient utilizing an ambulance or secure car.
- Documents daily, weekly, and monthly ambulance/secure car checks to ensure proper stock levels of equipment and supplies.
- Prepares the ambulances by ensuring they are cleaned and in a state of readiness.
- Performs hospital-based duties such as IV therapy, administration of medications appropriate for individual's level of EMS certification, intubations, and assists registered nurses in ER and other patient care areas.
Qualifications Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent, current certification at EMT-PM level is required License(s)/Certification(s):
- Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support & Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications required.
- Valid Iowa driver's license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English, basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
