Emergency Triage Assistant Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center

• ER Triage Anniston , AL Nursing Support full-time , evenings/nights , 7p-7a/every other weekend Req # 15941 Weekends?: Yes This position performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the emergent and urgent needs and comfort of patients while assisting the RN with functions in the Emergency Department Lobby and Triage area. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate quick registration for patients as well as identifying acute presentations that need to be escalated. The care given by the Emergency Triage Assistant should be in accordance with the plan of care established by the licensed nurse. The Emergency Triage Assistant communicates between the unit/department and other departments of the organization. This position is also responsible for carrying out any other duties deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician and/or professional nurse, to include performing other clerical duties using computer desktop applications; relaying messages to the appropriate personnel and assisting in maintaining patient flow; participating in the orientation and training of personnel and performing other duties as assigned. As this position is the first point of contact for the organization for many of our patients, it is crucial that this role has strong customer service, empathy, and communication skills. Ensures that care is delivered to each patient in accordance with the policies and procedures of RMC. Assists licensed staff with treatments and services as needed. Consistently and thoroughly document care provided to the patient. Demonstrates the ability to adapt patient care to varied age-specific patient populations. Supports and participates in organizational Performance Improvement activities. Greet patients as they enter the lobby. Obtain initial contact information and complete temporary registration in Paragon. Communicate closely with the Charge Nurse and Triage Nurse, and EMT to assist with patient flow. Perform waiting room rounds, obtain vital signs, and re-assess patients as needed. Serve as liaison for patients and visitors to the clinical staff. Assist patients in and out of the ED as needed. Monitor the cleanliness of lobby and communicate with Environmental Services as needed. Perform EKGs and obtain vital signs on patients as needed. Ensure presenting patients are registered for EMTALA compliance and monitor for patients leaving the lobby. Utilize our ER Advisor application to address requests from patients in the lobby. High school or GED equivalent P revious healthcare and/or customer service experience preferred Knowledge of computer applications associated with hospital practices to include word processing and spreadsheets Current BLS certification.
