30701 Demonstrates competency in EKGs, cardiac monitoring, and BLS protocols. Monitors cardiac/telemetry status and vital functions of all patients. Performs as a Unit Liaison, including physician communication, maintaining electronic logs, EMS radio support, and coordinating patient transports. Adheres to infection control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees. Other duties as assigned. Uses and maintains emergency equipment proficiently. Documents treatment and administered care in the electronic medical record according to established policies and procedures. Assists with replenishing code cart supplies and other essential equipment. Assists the charge nurse and/or primary nurse with patient care throughout the department as assigned. Coordinates the immediate off-load of patients arriving via EMS with the primary nurse and/or charge nurse. Collaborates with the primary nurse to implement appropriate physician orders to expedite patient care. Obtains specimens promptly upon patient arrival.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Performs basic skills completely to include but not limited to: patient transport, EKGs, telemetry monitoring, intake & output, vital signs, specimen/culture collection, phlebotomy, dressing applications, oxygen administration via simple airway management (nasal cannula or mask), personal hygiene assistance, chest tube set-up, splint applications, blood glucose monitoring, and foley catheter placement [Required] Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language [Required]
