Full Job Description GI Technician:
1. Procedure Room GI Technician/Instrument Processing Technician
JOB SUMMARY
Cleans, disinfects, packages, sterilizes, and stores the supplies, instruments, and equipment.
RELATIONSHIPS

QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrates understanding of disinfection and sterilization principles required Experience in central processing functions preferred
MENTAL DEMANDS
Require constant and frequent judgment and response. Require language skills for communication in American English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Require high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care activities. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, occasional overhead and low reaching, bending, and the ability to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens; frequent exposure to chemical hazards. 1. Endoscopy Procedure Technician
JOB SUMMARY
Prepares the equipment and supplies for the procedure. Assists the physician by providing equipment and supplies to perform the scheduled procedure. Works cooperatively with the physician during the procedure. Assists the physician with patient positioning, biopsy, polypectomy, specimen collection, packaging, labeling and documentation, maintains equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Endoscopy experience Preferred Experience in central processing functions related to facility equipment Preferred Experience or training in the disinfection/sterilization process Preferred Documented course completion required (certified technician course, facility's staff development program for endoscopy technicians, etc.) or must be obtained within 2 years from hire.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Require constant and frequent judgment and response; occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills. Require language skills adequate for high-level written and interpersonal communication in American English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Require high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, to stand for long periods, occasional overhead and low reaching, and to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Patient care activities require the ability to exert force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely.
