Summary:
Under the supervision of the Nursing Director and charge nurse, provides individualized, goal-directed care to patients undergoing GI procedures. Responsible for High-Level Disinfection of Endoscopic Equipment and Accessories. Provides technical assistance to physicians performing endoscopic procedures. Maintains inventory system for endoscopic equipment and accessories. Team-oriented with a high level of integrity and motivation. Thrives in fast-paced patient focused setting.Responsibilities:
Performs cleaning and high level disinfection of endoscopes and endoscopic accessories following the manufacturer's guidelines. Performs required maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines (filter changes and water filters) Understand the inventory of sterile, non-sterile, and high level disinfected instruments, their proper handling, function, availability and location. Notifies appropriate staff members of equipment malfunctions Promptly and effectively responds to concerns or complaints during procedures including but not limited to problem with: Olympus equipment, scope, suction issues etc. Maintains endoscopic equipment in a clean and orderly manner; disinfects equipment and accessories according to center procedures and manufacturer guidelines. Under the direction of physician or registered nurse, assists in performing endoscopic procedures such as biopsies, brushings, washings, dilations and polypectomies.- Sets up and turns over procedures rooms for cases Ensures procedure rooms are maintained with necessary supplies; restocks as necessary.
- Maintains work area and procedure rooms in a neat, clean and orderly manner according to departmental procedures. Assist the procedure room nurse in the positioning of the patient when needed. Assist wherever directed by the procedure room nurse and/or the physician in the procedure room as the procedure is being started
- . Assist the R.N. in the total care of the patient when needed
- . Assists in the pre/post area at the direction of the RN to perform tasks within the scope of practice including: transportation, dressing, providing nourishment, obtaining vital signs, and phone calls. Transport equipment and supplies to and from areas as needed. Clean and store equipment, etc.as needed. Performs other work assigned by supervisor as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school required Previous work experience preferred willing to train the right person CPR required Sterile Processing preferred Other information: Knowledge of infection control procedures a plus. School of Surgical Technology and special procedure, and/or Endoscopy experience preferred.- Will need certification within 2 years of employment.
