Job Description
Description The Offsite Endoscopy Specialist assists physicians and RNs with procedures Gastrointestinal procedures. Responsibilities Performs and records patients vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respirations. Documents intake and output and other data as assigned. Sets up equipment and assists physician and RN with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to Upper Endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, manometry. Checks equipment function for use during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Cleans, disinfects and/or sterilizes equipment and accessories according to Infection Control guidelines. Documents all processing activities to appropriate logs. Maintains processing machines with scheduled filter changes. Troubleshoots equipment and scope problems. Prepares and arranges for repairs with manufacturer. Performs clinical procedures such as specimen collection, EKG, application of post-mortem care and maintenance of skin integrity. Prepares specimens by carefully labeling and entering proper information in applicable systems. Qualifications HS/GED and completion of an approved medical assistant training program Some experience in a healthcare setting preferred Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school or equivalent training and experience.
