The Exercise Specialist focuses on the seven dimensions of wellness (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, vocational, and environmental) through a unified wellness initiative. Key Contributions Provides personal training and group fitness to older adults of all levels of care and special populations. Creates ongoing publicity for health promotion and upcoming wellness events. Encourages social interaction, promotes mental stimulation through educational programs, and supports self-esteem all leading towards self-efficacy and full engagement in life. Responsible for the upkeep of the fitness centers and equipment. Creates displays, flyers, newsletters, posts notice, arranges set-up, purchases awards and assists in decorations for wellness events Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures. Qualifications & Requirements Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required. During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to remain on duty for the duration of the event. Minimum BS in Exercise Science or related field with certification from ACSM, NSCA, NASM, or ACE. Previous experience as a personal trainer, instructor and/or assistant to a fitness or wellness director in settings such as athletic clubs, hospital cardiac rehabs or worksite wellness centers. Previous experience working in a life plan community preferred. Have and maintain an active CPR certification.
