Job Description

Overview The Exercise Physiologist demonstrates excellent customer service performance and supports a work environment in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare, and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. U nder general supervision, the Exercise Physiologist supervises and monitors Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase II and III. Designs exercise prescription and develops fitness programs for patients referred to Cardiac Rehabilitation. Instructs patients and families in home exercise programs. Responsibilities Clinical contact with patients in the adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups A bility to appropriately assess, care for and treat patients according to the age-appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant Healthcare D esigns and implements exercise programs through a safe and accurate exercise prescription for any cardiac patient or others referred to Cardiac Rehabilitation I nstructs new patients for rehabilitation and explains exercise guidelines for a safe, productive home exercise program T eaches interdepartmental classes relating to health and exercise example: Diabetic Education Program, Healthy Shape-Up, etc. I f necessary, teaches community classes or works on community projects affiliated with the hospital pertaining to health and exercise A ccumulates information on rehabilitation patients and evaluates his or her condition and fitness level to periodically inform the physician or their patients progress while in Cardiac Rehabilitation E xhibits knowledge of current Cardiac Rehabilitation-related issues and participates in education programs to increase competency and met personal needs and goals E nsures work areas are clean, orderly and stocked C ommunicates with the physician under direction of the RN P erforms other duties as assigned Qualifications Education /Experience B achelor's Degree in Health & Fitness or Exercise Physiology B LS Healthcare Provider E xperience In related field 6 Months Required. Knowledge/S kills /Abilities Basic skills of exercise prescription E xcellent interpersonal skills in dealing with public, patients and coworkers E xcellent organization skills A ssumes responsibilities for knowledge of and adherence to approved structure and process standards for select patient populations. D emonstrates awareness of and assumes self-responsibility for practicing within the scope of the Exercise Physiologist role. D emonstrates the ability to remain calm during high volume, stress and crisis situations. D emonstrates the ability to problem solve and prioritize staff/patient needs independently, efficiently and effectively.
