An Exercise Physiologist or Specialist directs exercise programs for clients who are recovering from injuries or illnesses, who have disabilities or other chronic conditions, or who want to minimize health risks. Recommends exercise routines or modifications, and monitors patient health. Works in recreational centers, hospitals or other facilities. May provide advice to athletes and people interested in sports training.
Part-time faculty are pooled positions; appointments are made on an as-needed/rolling basis. Summary of Position Teaches courses related to exercise physiology, kinesiology, strength and conditioning, wellness, biomechanics, fitness assessment, and related areas within the discipline. Provides high-quality instruction in undergraduate exercise science courses and fosters student learning within a dynamic academic environment. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering course content, assessing student performance, maintaining timely communication with students and full-time faculty, and fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. Course assignments will consist of different formats such as face-to-face, laboratory, or online formats depending on departmental needs. Position Information Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be remote or at various locations.

Minimum Qualifications:
An earned master's degree in exercise physiology, exercise Science, kinesiology, human performance, sports medicine, athletic training, or in an equivalent related field from an accredited institution; current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification; must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Nationally recognized professional certification in exercise science, strength and conditioning, or clinical exercise physiology.
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.
Sedentary:
work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria aremet.
