Job Description
OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
: This position is responsible for supervising, assisting and counseling all Healthstyles members, guests and patients for the purpose of developing individualized exercise prescriptions based on individual/program goals. This position is also responsible for orientation of exercise equipment, proper implementation of exercise prescription and counseling of clients on risk factor modification and physiological assessments.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
: (other duties may be assigned) Provide a high standard of customer service approach to all members, patients, guests and visitors. Greet everyone with a smile and eye contact. Introduce yourself clearly, especially to new members, and make them feel welcome and use their name. Maintain open body language; be approachable and available for questions or concerns. Take ownership of position and address concerns or complaints properly to find a solution. Supervise and assist safe and effective exercise programs for all Healthstyles members, including member/program orientations to all equipment. Circulate all exercise areas, visually observing participants exercising safely and following gym rules. Verbally explain and demonstrate proper technique on all cardiovascular and weight training equipment. Be available and offer hands-on assistance, recommending modifications when necessary. Incorporate exercise log to monitor client progress and discuss F.I.T.T Model with members. Maintain floor supplies (ie. disinfectant, towels, etc.) as needed and evaluate equipment routinely for issues. Conduct HealthStyles facility tours to prospective members and utilize club system to accommodate member inquires, track member usage and maintain member compliance Physically walk client through all areas of the fitness facility, as it pertains to Healthstyles. Know and discuss available membership types, programs offered and payment options effectively. Obtain complete applications on all membership types, adhering to PAR-Q guidelines for medical clearance. Explain member's responsibility of change in medical status notification, scanning-in and scheduling of orientations. Verify member status daily upon scan-in and address membership concerns (ie.expiration, payment issues..etc.) at that time. Assist in all Healthstyles promotions to support clinical and non-clinical programs and services Conduct educational lectures and exercise demonstration/instruction for HealthStyles members and to the public. Offer in-house and community lectures regarding exercise and health promotion and wellness. Assist in providing regular fitness center promotion events and exercise challenges to members Participant in dept. quality improvement projects to assist with member retention and revenue generating services Contribute to regular hospital publications, social media outlets and educational information via fitness center boards. Participate in health fairs and outreach opportunities, when needed. Direct supervision of the Physician Exercise Program (PEP) and/or other HealthStyles programs/services offered. Communication of program purpose and appropriateness of program participants. Assessment of all participants at program entry and exit. Proper documentation of exercise sessions, protocols and progression based on policies Proper participant tracking ie. referrals and discharges for stats; provider communication. Proper club system set-up and payment. Orientation of equipment and review of facility guidelines Development and supervision of structured exercise sessions and educational teaching of risk factors. Perform Personal Training with clients as necessary. Properly complete client agreement, payment process and initiation of clients to the fitness center processes. Track client sessions and abide by trainer/client agreement, communicating this clearly with clients. Provide clients with new trends and engaging individualized exercise plans Provide effective and appropriate progression of workouts to meet client's stated goals Assist in the referral and enrollment process of patients in Cardiac Rehab and SET-PAD. Effectively and timely conduct initial and follow-up of referred patients with qualifying diagnoses including proper tracking procedures Properly verify insurance and appropriate communication of coverage to patient and assistance options Thoroughly gather medical records with supporting documentation Timely coordinate with program nurse to initiate enrollment, address patient contraindications, if applicable, and obtain physician orders Conduct all aspects of the evaluation consultation with completion of the ITP; and scheduling of dietary appts, if applicable. Assist in the completion of daily operations of Cardiac Rehab and direct supervision of patients. Competent in utilization of the VersaCare ScottCare telemetry system. Assessment of patient vitals (BP, HR, SPO2) and patient application of the telemetry unit; exercise instruction and review of fitness center guidelines. Observation of ECG/telemetry monitoring of patients during exercise sessions Administration of glucometer testing and knowledge of diabetic guidelines, as appropriate Initiation and progression of appropriate exercise protocol based on risk stratification and special patient concerns. Equipment set-up with cardio and weight training equipment. ITP reviews completed timely related to risk factor education/modification, readiness to change, patient/program goals and HEP. Usage of Expanse and Form Imprint for processes and session billing.Education/Training/License/Certification :
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in an exercise related field required. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification and AED Training preferred at time of hire, required within 6 months of hire date.Work Experience :
