Exercise Physiologist 1 Pulmonary Diagnostics Inova Health System parental leave, paid time off United States, Virginia, Fairfax Aug 10, 2026 Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Exercise Physiologist 1 to join our Pulmonary Diagnostics team. This role will be Full-time, Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 4 days per week for 9 hour-shifts, 6:30am-4pm Inova is consistently ranked a national healthcare leader in safety, quality and patient experience. Exercise Physiologist Job Responsibilities:
Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification by incorporating comorbidities and musculoskeletal disorders, per established program (ACCVPR, ACSM, ATS, ACC, NASM) standards and guidelines, as evidenced by random chart review. Reviews and develops Individual Treatment Plans. • Develops exercise and strength training programs, patient education, and behavioral health support specific to each patient to achieve optimal outcomes. Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for performing appropriate exercise and strength training as needed to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescription, as evidenced by direct observation. Immediately reports significant changes in patient clinical status to appropriate members of the healthcare team and assists with emergency care according to department policy, as evidenced by direct observation. May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association within 6 months; Certified Exercise Physiologist from American College of Sports Medicine - Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM CEP) for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab within 12 months; or Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation - Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (AACVPR CCRP) for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab within 12 months
