Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Therapist's essential function for UChicago Medicine - Ingalls Memorial Hospital's Forensic Mental Health Unit is to proficiently and effectively lead patients through the Fitness Restoration process. The Program Therapist provides social service functions — including therapeutic interventions and education — in support of each patient's Fitness Restoration and psychiatric stability, ensuring that programming complies with policy and meets patients' individual psychosocial needs. This role also serves as the liaison to IDHS system administration, requiring written and verbal communication with IDHS and Illinois Court representatives, and is responsible for status reports and discharge planning. A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is required. Professional licensure (LCPC or LCSW), a minimum of 5 years of experience in behavioral health, and previous inpatient behavioral health experience are preferred.
