Wallace Academy is located in Hoffman Estates (Cook County) Illinois. It is a private therapeutic day school providing support to middle school and high school students in special education demonstrating school refusal behavior and chronic absenteeism.

Description :
Academic instruction and therapeutic support are delivered through a blended model of remote learning, through home and community-based visits, and in the school building. Therapists are expected to manage their own schedules (see sample schedule below). The Special Education Program Therapist supports students demonstrating school refusal behavior due to a variety of factors (including but not limited to: school anxiety, medical fragility, and social emotional challenges that impact their ability to function in a public education setting). Wallace Academy values a high level of collaboration with district partners and parents. Additionally, Wallace Academy is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive work culture. Administration encourages therapists to find creative ways to connect with students, many of which have not attended school regularly for an extended period of time. Sample Program Therapist schedule : 7:30-8:30
  • Clinical Meeting 8:30-10:30
  • Home visit 10:30-11:15
  • Individual therapy session 11:15-12:00
  • Lunch 12:00-12:30
  • Individual therapy session 12:30-1:30
  • IEP meeting 1:30-2:30
  • Write case notes & goal tracking 2:30-3:00
  • Parent phone calls & emails 2:30-3:00

Qualifications/Licensure :
LCPC, LCSW, LPC, LSW, LMFT, PsyD, and/or be license eligible PsyD/PhD Ability to travel/drive Essential duties and responsibilities : To plan, instruct, progress monitor, and collect data on each student To provide individual, direct, and consultative services in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) as defined by the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). To collaborate with all members of the team regarding students with IEPs and provide guidance and support in the development of and progress toward post-secondary outcomes and IEP goals To plan and manage Therapy groups for students each week Provide individual, group, and family therapy as well as crisis management and risk assessments for children, adolescents and their families Attend group supervision and individual supervision weekly with the Clinical Director Maintain clinical files: treatment plans, diagnosis, clinical goals, case notes, etc Attend weekly home visits or community visits for student who are not currently coming into the building
