Qualifications To become a Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) for ARMHS, individuals may qualify through one of the following pathways: Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences (or related field) and 2,000 hours supervised mental health experience. Does not meet Educational requirement + 4,000 hours experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness OR disorder , emotional disturbance substance use , developmental disabilities brain injury or traumatic • Has 2,000 hrs experience w/above populations and receives supervision 1x/week until 4,000 hrs experience met Master's/Doctoral student in a behavioral science program, formally assigned to an agency. Bachelor's student in a behavioral science program, formally assigned for an internship. Recognized as a Mental Health Practitioner by a federally recognized tribe . Additional Requirements Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle. Must pass DHS background study. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Willingness to travel in the metro area and adapt to various community settings. Responsibilities Deliver ARMHS focused on independent living skills such as: Mental health symptom management Interpersonal communication & relationship building Community resource navigation Relapse prevention strategies Financial literacy & budgeting Health & wellness practices Household management Employment readiness skills Provide services in clients' homes or community settings. Participate in weekly clinical supervision (in-person or virtual). Complete timely documentation, including Functional Assessments, Treatment Plans, Progress Notes, and Crisis Plans (within 72 hours of service). Monthly supervision meetings with Treatment Supervisor. Skills for Success Empathy & compassion in all client interactions. Effective communication with clients, families, and team members. Clinical assessment skills for evaluating client needs. Crisis intervention abilities with strong de-escalation techniques. Detail-oriented documentation and compliance with professional standards. Adaptability to different environments and evolving client needs. Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
