Job Description The Expressive Therapist plans and provides recreation, music, art, drama, and/or dance and movement therapy interventions to support patients' physical, cognitive, social, and emotional well-being.
This role develops individualized treatment plans, leads group and individual sessions, participates in multidisciplinary care, and supports student and volunteer supervision. Key Responsibilities Evaluate patients and develop individualized expressive therapy plans based on physician referrals Plan and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions using appropriate expressive therapy modalities Document patient progress, assess responses to treatment, and modify interventions as needed Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and team meetings Maintain a safe, clean, and well-equipped therapy environment Assist with supervision of interns, assistants, and volunteers Maintain professional certifications and stay current with developments in the field Promote quality improvement, patient safety, cultural diversity, and a positive patient experience Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards Minimum Requirements Graduation from an accredited college program with a major in Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, or Dance and Movement Therapy Current certification or registry in Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, or Dance and Movement Therapy, or obtain required certification/registry within 6 months of hire to maintain employment For Inpatient Therapists, must possess or obtain within 60 days RQI and CBMT certification and maintain current certification. Verbal communication skills required to lead Expressive Therapy Written communication skills required to complete required documentation If driving is required, must meet Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy requirements Preferred Qualifications One year of experience in Artistic Expressive Therapy If you're passionate about using creativity to support mental health and help patients reach their therapeutic goals, we encourage you to apply today and bring your unique talents to our team!
