Job Summary:

The Child & Family Therapist provides psychotherapy services for children and families in both of our YWCA Helena programs: WINGS (Women Initiating New Growth and Stability) and the Caterpillars Parenting Center. The WINGS program provides Co-Occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders treatment and long-term transitional housing for women in early recovery. The YWCA Caterpillars Parenting Center provides Supervised Parental Visitation, Safe Exchange services and parenting classes for clients in the WINGS program and for families living in the local community. Programs at YWCA Helena are comprehensive, collaborative, trauma-informed and responsive. This position, in coordination with the treatment team, will provide individual, family and group therapies and education sessions. This position works together with program team members to identify needed community services that create holistic recovery and independence. Performance of duties reflects the value that all human beings will be treated with respect and dignity and approached with recognition of their individual importance. This position is an instrumental team member to a multidisciplinary and holistic team at the YWCA.

Job Qualifications:

The applicant for this position must have a Minimum of a 60-credit Master's Degree in Social work or related counseling field from an accredited university. Applicant must be licensed or a licensure candidate licensed by the State of Montana's Board of Behavioral health as an LCSW or LCPC. A minimum of two (2) years experience in the area of mental health is preferred. A thorough understanding of intervention techniques in working with children and families as well as regulatory requirements and Montana laws regarding working with children impacted by trauma and whose parents may present with co-occurring disorders and with high-risk families. A basic knowledge of educational, psychological and social work systems as related to families and parents affected by substance use disorders and mental health issues is required. • This position does not supervise other staff.
• This position is supervised by the Clinical Director or the designated team leader.
• As a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, this position meets regularly with selected clinical and program staff to keep abreast of case activities, to offer direction with difficult situations and to ensure licensure compliance. Client Services
• Provides comprehensive clinical assessments of clients
• Formulates and implements treatment plans for clients in coordination with YWCA Helena's other clinical and program staff if the client and/or family is being served by other YWCA services.
• Provides direct care/client services by providing mental health services to clients.
• Conducts and facilitates clients' individual and family therapy sessions with children and their parents.
• Engages parents in the mental health care of their children through family therapy and parent education and training.
• Provides referrals for medication consideration or developmental/cognitive assessments as needed.
• Coordinates with other providers of the client. Documentation
• Develops clinical assessments and individualized treatment plans for each client addressing their mental health disorders.
• Writes therapy notes for all services provided, i.e. assessments, groups, 1 on 1's, individualized treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
• Works with clinical and program staff to ensure all approved and appropriate releases of information, screening, and assessment instruments are utilized. Continually gathers and maintains information relating to all community resources.
• Is proficient with YWCA's Electronic Health Record and is an active user.
• Is knowledgeable and upholds HIPAA guidelines.
• Adheres to agency documentation policies, State of Montana Code Annotated (MCA) and Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM) regarding documentation of services provided under agency licensure as a Substance Use Treatment Facility and a Mental Health Center. Teams
• Works as a partner in a multidisciplinary program/therapeutic team.
• Communicates assessments, diagnosis, treatment plan and recovery recommendations to the treatment team.
• Participates in discipline specific, as well as interdisciplinary staff meetings and functions.
• Serves as a professional resource for in-service presentations for staff.
• Acts as a client advocate representing the mental health perspective relative to client care. Other
• Attends All-Staff Meetings, Program Staff Meetings, and clinical supervision meetings with Clinical supervisor
• Provides crisis response if contacted by agency contracted to receive and refer Crisis Telephone Calls from our clients
• Other Duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of children's mental health service programs.
• Knowledge of developmental stages and impact of trauma throughout life span
• Skill in effective therapeutic interventions.
• Skill in researching and developing training materials and program content.
• Ability to identify problems, researching to develop and implement solutions.
• Keen understanding of poverty along with an understanding of trauma and how trauma presents in choices and interactions.
• Experience working with homeless individuals and families a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be insurable and provide own transportation for work related travel as necessary.
• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision as well as cooperatively as part of the YWCA team.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
• Ability to intervene and respond quickly in crisis situations.
• Proven conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior with regard to confidentiality as well as in matters concerning coworkers.
• Ability to thoroughly document conversations and actions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as law enforcement reports, government or agency regulations and legal interpretations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
