Job Description

Licensed Therapist -
Day Treatment Locations:
Gastonia, NC and Lincolnton, NC Job Type:
Full-Time Support, Inc. is seeking a licensed or provisionally licensed therapist to join our Day Treatment programs in Gastonia and Lincolnton, NC. This is not an easy clinical position — and it is not meant to be. Our Day Treatment therapists work with children and adolescents who may display significant behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, and complex mental health symptoms. The work can be intense, fast-paced, and challenging, but it can also be some of the most meaningful and rewarding work a clinician can do. We are looking for someone who can see beyond a child's behavior and recognize the person behind it. The right clinician will be compassionate, resilient, dependable, and able to remain clinically focused during difficult situations. You should be comfortable making sound judgment calls, responding to crises, working collaboratively with a treatment team, and helping children and families make meaningful progress. What You'll Do The therapist serves as a clinical leader within the Day Treatment program and works closely with children, families, program staff, schools, and other members of the Child and Family Team.
Primary responsibilities include:
Providing individual, family, and group therapy Providing clinical oversight and direction within the Day Treatment program Completing assessments, treatment planning, and other required clinical documentation Providing crisis assessment and intervention when needed Helping staff understand the clinical needs behind challenging behaviors Supporting development and implementation of individualized treatment goals Participating in Child and Family Team meetings and collaborating with families, schools, and community providers Monitoring client progress and adjusting interventions as clinically appropriate Supporting children in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, and improved daily functioning Helping youth successfully transition back into less restrictive school and community settings About Day Treatment Day Treatment is a structured, intensive behavioral health service designed for children and adolescents whose mental health needs significantly interfere with their ability to function successfully in traditional school, home, or community settings. Services are designed to build upon each child's strengths while addressing the functional challenges associated with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
Treatment focuses on:
Reducing and stabilizing mental health symptoms Improving emotional and behavioral regulation Strengthening coping and interpersonal skills Increasing successful functioning at home, school, and in the community Supporting recovery and long-term stability Helping children transition successfully back into traditional educational or community-based settings Our approach is child and family centered, strengths based, developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and focused on measurable functional improvement. Treatment goals are individualized through the child's Person-Centered Plan/Child and Family Plan and are developed collaboratively with the Child and Family Team, which may include family members, school personnel, community supports, mentors, and other treatment providers. Who We're Looking For This position is ideal for someone who: Genuinely enjoys working with children and adolescents with significant behavioral health needs Can remain calm and clinically focused during challenging situations Has a strong work ethic and takes ownership of their responsibilities Is self-motivated and comfortable working with a high degree of independence Demonstrates sound clinical judgment Is flexible and able to adapt when situations change quickly Values teamwork and collaboration Can recognize the needs, strengths, and potential of a child even during difficult behaviors Finds meaning and purpose in helping children and families make lasting changes Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or another qualifying behavioral health field Current North Carolina clinical license or provisional/associate license Examples may include LCSW, LCSWA, LCMHC, LCMHCA, LMFT, LMFTA, or other qualifying clinical credentials. Experience working with children, adolescents, families, crisis services, intensive behavioral health services, or school-based mental health is strongly preferred. Why Support, Inc.? At Support, Inc., we believe that children experiencing the greatest challenges are often the ones who need strong, consistent, compassionate professionals the most. If you are looking for a position where your clinical skills matter, where every day is different, and where you can have a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families, we would love to hear from you.
