Our Therapists Provide direct services for Victims Assistance Center (VAC) and/or the Child Advocacy Center of NNY (CAC) programs. The therapist will provide assessment and clinical intervention using approved, evidenced-based approaches with adults, adolescents, children and non-offending family members who have experienced abuse and/or neglect. The therapist will adhere to the responsibilities outlined in the Multi-disciplinary Team Protocols associated with the CAC and deliver all services in a culturally sensitive, well-coordinated manner as part of the VAC and/or multidisciplinary team. The therapist will be expected to travel throughout St. Lawrence County to either a satellite office or through use of an agency mobile office to ensure all victims have equal access to therapeutic services.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide individual, family, and group counseling to victims and non-offending family members using evidence-based treatment modalities, including, but not limited to Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Complete and maintain current individualized treatment plans; Measure treatment progress by assessing improvement on clinical assessment tools; Document session notes, provide written reports as appropriate, and enter service data in a database; Maintain client treatment records per program and NYS standards and submit all data for agency statistical reports to funders in a timely fashion; Provide crisis intervention for clients receiving other services at the agency; Assist with the preparation of victims and witnesses for court when requested; Provide testimony in legal proceedings when requested; Maintain proficiency and treatment knowledge through discussion, supervision, training, and research; Attend Multidisciplinary Team case review meetings on a monthly basis, as appropriate; Refer clients as needed for additional community services, as appropriate; Participate in weekly or bi-weekly supervision, as appropriate; All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Must possess strong clinical skills and be well versed in trauma-informed and systemic approaches to treatment that promote evidence-based practices. Must possess strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently. Must have knowledge of the New York State judicial and social services system. The therapist will comply with all of the Victim's Assistance Center's personnel policies and protocols. The therapist will maintain client confidentiality at all times. The therapist must complete at least 40 contact hours in training/consultation in an evidence-based trauma treatment approach in compliance with NCA Standards for Mental Health. (this can be achieved upon hire).
Minimum Qualifications:
Must meet one of the following: Be licensed/certified to provide mental health services in NYS - (supervision is made available to work towards licensure and be in compliance with NYS guidelines.) Have a Master's Degree in a mental health field A student intern in an accredited graduate program Two years of clinical experience with abuse victims and families preferred. A current and valid driver's license.

$23.07 per hour Continued employment is contingent upon the acquisition of ongoing grant/contract funding. Reports directly to the CAC Program Director / Clinical Director.
