Full-Time (Provisional) The Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene and Social Services is currently accepting applications for the position of Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist. This full-time role involves providing individual, group, and family therapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and families in an outpatient clinical setting. Therapists work as part of an interdisciplinary team and provide care to clients with a range of mental health, behavioral, and substance use concerns. This position operates under the general supervision of a Clinic Director and within the full scope of clinical licensure.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct intake screenings, individual assessments, and therapeutic interviews. Deliver evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy services. Assist clients in adjusting to diagnoses and managing behavioral health and social determinants of health (SDOH). Develop, review, and update treatment plans in collaboration with clients. Maintain complete, timely, and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) standards. Collaborate with psychiatric providers and prescribers regarding symptom monitoring and medication response. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and discharge planning. Refer clients to appropriate external resources and coordinate transitions to other levels of care. Provide clinical documentation to support billing and service authorization. Maintain active caseload, monitor client engagement, and initiate discharge when clinically appropriate. Support continuity of care through collaboration with schools, medical providers, and other community agencies. May supervise Behavioral Health Therapists, if assigned and consistent with licensure regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university. A minimum of one (1) year of direct care experience providing mental health counseling in a clinical setting. Licensure Requirement (at time of appointment and throughout employment): Candidate must hold one of the following New York State professional licenses: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSW-R) Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) Applicants must include a copy of their current NYS license when applying.
Additional Requirement:
Applicants must have the ability to meet transportation requirements for off-site fieldwork assignments at the time of appointment and during employment.
