This role is pivotal in providing expert mental health treatment specifically for trauma survivors, enhancing their well-being through compassionate, evidence-based care. The successful candidate will work remotely while engaging with clients primarily in our outpatient office setting in San Jose, California. About the Organization At Psychotherapy Family Crisis Intervention, Inc., we are deeply committed to creating a nurturing environment for individuals who have experienced trauma. Our team specializes in addressing complex mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our mission revolves around promoting healing through customized care, working closely with patients to build resilience and foster recovery. Work Environment The role offers the flexibility of remote work while maintaining a presence in our outpatient office to facilitate key client interactions. You will collaborate in a supportive atmosphere that prioritizes team collaboration and professional development. Our structured working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although you may occasionally need to adjust for patient needs. We are looking for someone who thrives both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough trauma-informed assessments to understand each patient's unique trauma history and tailor treatment strategies accordingly. Develop personalized treatment plans focusing on trauma recovery and improving resilience, ensuring they are both adaptive and impactful. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in individual and group settings. Lead therapy sessions aimed at processing trauma and developing coping mechanisms, fostering a safe space for clients to express themselves. Maintain collaborative relationships with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring comprehensive care approaches for our clients. Provide crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, offering immediate, effective guidance to clients and their families. Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, available resources, and effective coping strategies, empowering them throughout the recovery process. Ensure meticulous documentation of patient interactions and therapy sessions to comply with both ethical and legal standards, using electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively. Participate in regular team meetings and case consultations to share insights and strategies that enhance our trauma-informed care approach. Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in trauma therapy, integrating this knowledge into clinical practice. Patient Population / Client Focus Our focus is on individuals and families affected by trauma, specifically those grappling with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. You will engage with diverse patient populations that may include children, adolescents, and adults, requiring tailored therapeutic techniques to resonate with varying developmental stages and unique experiences. Qualifications A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from a reputable institution. Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience working in mental health, ideally focusing on trauma care. A strong understanding of trauma-related disorders and familiarity with evidence-based treatment methodologies. Exceptional interpersonal skills complemented by a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to therapy. The ability to demonstrate resilience and work effectively under pressure, tackling sensitive situations with tact. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and software, ensuring efficient management of patient information. A collaborative mindset eager to integrate into a multidisciplinary team setting, sharing insights and learning from colleagues. Preferred Experience While a minimum of two years of experience is required, candidates with additional experience in trauma-informed care and specialized therapeutic techniques will be best suited for this role. A history of success in providing trauma-focused therapies will significantly strengthen your application.
