Job Description

Mental Health Therapist Yellow Chair Counseling Austin, TX Job Details Part-time | Full-time | Contract $40,000 - $80,000 a year 21 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Teamwork Intake Licensed Clinical Social Worker Mental health counseling Telehealth therapy Full Job Description Come learn the ropes of private practice in a supportive, laid-back environment. Yellow Chair Counseling is a small local group practice in business since 2016 and centrally located in a newly renovated bungalow style house in Austin, TX. We provide a steady stream of client referrals, well appointed office space and manage all back-end insurance billing and claims to help clinicians learn the ins and outs of private practice in a supportive environment. We view ourselves as a launching pad for clinicians who eventually want to own their own practice (though clinicians are welcome to stay with us for as long as they like). For clinicians willing to make a two year commitment with Yellow Chair, we provide business coaching and support with credentialing (if desired) in the months leading up to their departure into solo practice. We support clinicians taking their clients with them so they start their practice with a full caseload at or after the two year mark. Our clientele is primarily college students and young professionals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Our ideal candidate is a collaborative, open-minded clinician who is excited about providing therapy to a diverse clientele in a private practice setting. We are interested in working with clinicians who would like to bill between 15 and 28 client sessions each week. Ideally, we'd love to find someone who is open to hybrid work, both in person and remote. However, we're open to both fully in person or fully remote for the right candidate. Our clinicians set their own schedules (there are some limitations around in-person hours due to availability of office space, but otherwise clinicians choose when they work). Because the vast majority of our clientele uses insurance benefits, post-supervision full-licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) is required. If you are an associate who is within 2 months of full-licensure and are interested in working with us, please feel free to reach out. This position would start sometime between November 2026 and January 2027 (we can work with your availability to determine a start date). It takes about one to two months to get our clinicians credentialed with insurance panels, which also influences the start date. Responsibilities may include completing an intake assessment for new clients, providing ongoing weekly or biweekly therapy to a diverse caseload, diagnosing, writing progress notes after each session, keeping an updated treatment plan on file, scheduling, charging copays, following ethical and legal guidelines, communicating and/or consulting with other professionals as needed, and creating a monthly invoice for each client. We offer optional periodic group consultation and optional networking/socializing events. For clinicians billing 75 sessions or more in a calendar month, we offer an incentive bonus that can be used to increase take home pay or be applied toward wellness expenses. In sum, we're a thriving group therapy practice offering: A steady caseload of clients (no marketing needed) A full caseload within about 4-6 months A calm, beautiful office space Back-end insurance billing + admin support A warm, organized, low-drama team Flexible schedules + autonomy Real mentorship to help you grow, thrive, and eventually go solo Our ideal team member is: A fully licensed therapist (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT) Enjoys working with a diverse caseload Open to learning and growing in community Looking for a stepping stone into independent practice This is a 1099 contract position.
