Flexible Start date: Flexible About Carolinas Center Carolinas Center for Evaluation and Treatment is a group practice rooted in compassion, inclusion, and whole-person care. We believe meaningful change begins with understanding—of how people think, feel, process information, relate to others, and experience the world around them. We are seeking a North Carolina-licensed or associate-licensed therapist who wants to provide thoughtful, relationship-centered care within a collaborative and inclusive practice. The right clinician will understand neurodiversity, approach clients from a trauma-informed and strengths-based perspective, and believe that therapy should help people build lives that work with who they are—not pressure them to hide, suppress, or "fix" important parts of themselves. We bring the same whole-person perspective to our clinical team. Clinician well-being is not separate from good client care. We want therapists to have the autonomy, administrative support, and trusted professional relationships they need to work with care, clarity, and sustainability. About the Position This is a hybrid 1099 contractor opportunity for a therapist interested in building toward a full caseload of individual therapy clients ages 12 and older. Clients at our practice commonly seek support related to: Anxiety and depression Trauma and chronic stress ADHD, autism, and AuDHD High masking and neurodivergent burnout Identity and self-understanding Emotional and sensory regulation Relationships and family dynamics Life transitions Caseloads build gradually so clinicians have time to establish strong therapeutic relationships and develop a sustainable working rhythm. There is no required minimum number of weekly sessions or scheduled hours. Clinicians who are interested in creating groups or focused programs that align with the practice's values may also receive support in developing those offerings. What Neurodiversity-Affirming Care Means Here A working understanding of neurodiversity is essential for this position. We do not expect every clinician to arrive with identical training or expertise, but we do expect a genuine foundation in affirming care, openness to continued learning, and an ability to approach differences without deficit-based or compliance-focused assumptions. This includes an understanding of concepts such as: Masking and neurodivergent burnout The effects of sensory processing on emotional and behavioral regulation Executive-functioning differences Supporting regulation rather than enforcing compliance Identity-affirming work with neurodivergent clients Helping clients build lives that work with their needs rather than against them Supporting parents without blaming either the parent or child Recognizing neurodivergence in high-masking adolescents and adults Our goal is not simply to help clients function within expectations that may not fit them. We want to help people understand themselves, build on their strengths, access meaningful support, and create conditions in which they can flourish. Responsibilities Provide ethical, clinically appropriate individual therapy to clients ages 12 and older Develop collaborative treatment plans that reflect each client's needs, values, strengths, and goals Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation Communicate professionally with clients, caregivers when appropriate, administrative staff, and other providers Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and safeguard client confidentiality Maintain an active North Carolina clinical license or associate license Maintain professional liability insurance Maintain required clinical supervision if practicing under an associate-level license Offer later appointments one day each week, with the final appointment beginning at 6:00 p.m. Provide some in-person services from the Cornelius office Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team culture Qualifications Applicants must: Hold an active North Carolina license or associate license in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or psychology Be comfortable providing individual therapy to adolescents, teens, and adults Practice from a trauma-informed perspective Understand and value neurodiversity-affirming care Be committed to gender-affirming and LGBTQIA+-inclusive care Be self-directed, dependable, and capable of working independently Value consultation and collaboration while maintaining appropriate clinical autonomy Communicate directly, respectfully, and professionally Approach clinical complexity with curiosity, humility, and respect Familiarity with polyvagal theory, somatic approaches, or nervous-system regulation is preferred. A sincere interest in developing these areas is also welcome, and practice-funded training opportunities may be available for specific interventions such as the Safe and Sound Protocol. What the Practice Provides Our administrative structure is designed to allow clinicians to spend more of their time and energy on clinical work.
Support includes:
A full-time practice administrator in the office each day Initial client scheduling Assistance with rescheduling and recurring appointment changes Insurance-benefit verification Communication with clients about benefit information Billing and insurance-claim submission A billing specialist who addresses claim-processing concerns Insurance credentialing and rostering EHR and operational support A furnished and consistent clinical office in Cornelius Clinical consultation and training opportunities Potential practice-based supervision for associate-level clinicians, depending on availability and fit Depending on the clinician's schedule, the furnished office may be shared with one other therapist. Clinicians will have a consistent working space rather than moving between available offices. Schedule and Flexibility Clinicians may determine their working days and hours based on their professional and personal needs. The only standing schedule requirement is availability for later appointments one day each week, with the final appointment beginning at 6:00 p.m. Otherwise, there are no required start times, end times, or specific working days. This opportunity is intended for a clinician who wants to build toward a full caseload, but there is no fixed productivity quota or minimum weekly caseload. The compensation structure adjusts with clinical volume, allowing clinicians greater flexibility when personal needs, time away, or changing circumstances affect their availability. Compensation Clinicians receive between 60% and 70% of collected fees. The compensation tier is determined monthly using the clinician's average number of attended sessions per week during the prior month, with 70% of collected fees paid when clinicians average of 15 or more sessions per week. This tiered structure allows clinicians to increase their earnings as their caseload grows while preserving flexibility during periods when they choose or need to work less. This is a 1099 independent-contractor opportunity and does not include employee benefits.
