Flexible About Us The Way We Love Relationship Counseling LLC is a growing outpatient behavioral health practice committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, person-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care. We serve children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use and recovery concerns, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, family conflict, and emotional regulation challenges. We are seeking compassionate and motivated behavioral health professionals interested in building a caseload within a growing private practice while maintaining professional autonomy and flexibility. Position Summary The Way We Love Relationship Counseling LLC is seeking independently licensed behavioral health clinicians and Virginia Registered Residents to provide outpatient psychotherapy and behavioral health services within the scope of their respective licenses, registrations, training, and professional competencies. We welcome professionals from counseling, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and substance use treatment backgrounds. This independent contractor opportunity is ideal for clinicians seeking flexible scheduling, professional autonomy, administrative and billing support, furnished clinical space, and the opportunity to develop a caseload and specialty area within a growing behavioral health practice. Important Information for Residents The Way We Love Relationship Counseling LLC is not currently providing clinical supervision toward independent licensure. Virginia Registered Residents and Supervisees are welcome to apply provided they have an established and appropriately credentialed Virginia Board-approved external supervisor and maintain all applicable supervision and registration requirements. Clinical Services Depending on professional credentials, training, and scope of practice, contract clinicians may provide: Individual psychotherapy Couples counseling Family therapy Child and adolescent therapy Group therapy Substance use assessment and treatment Co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment Psychoeducation Other outpatient behavioral health services appropriate to professional credentials and competency Contractor Responsibilities Contract clinicians are expected to: Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and clinical assessments within scope of practice. Develop individualized, person-centered treatment plans. Provide evidence-based and trauma-informed behavioral health services. Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation. Complete progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other required clinical records. Maintain documentation consistent with applicable payer, Medicaid, commercial insurance, legal, ethical, and practice requirements. Monitor client progress and adjust treatment interventions as clinically appropriate. Coordinate care with physicians, psychiatrists, schools, treatment programs, and other community providers when clinically appropriate and properly authorized. Maintain HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality. Maintain professional and ethical boundaries. Maintain all required professional licenses, registrations, certifications, continuing education, and professional liability insurance. Participate in case consultation or practice meetings when appropriate. Provide services only within the clinician's professional scope, training, and competency. Eligible Licensed Clinicians Applicants may hold an active Virginia license in one of the following disciplines: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP) Licensed Clinical Psychologist Other appropriately licensed behavioral health professionals whose credentials align with services offered by the practice Eligible Virginia Residents / Supervisees Applicants working toward independent licensure may include: Resident in Counseling Supervisee in Social Work Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment Residents and Supervisees must maintain an active Virginia registration and have an established external Virginia Board-approved supervisor appropriate to their professional discipline.
General Qualifications Applicants must:
Hold an active Virginia professional license or applicable Resident/Supervisee registration in good standing. Maintain professional liability insurance. Maintain all continuing education and credentialing requirements applicable to their profession. Maintain an established Board-approved external supervisor when practicing under residency or supervision requirements. Demonstrate strong clinical documentation and communication skills. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and sound clinical judgment. Be comfortable practicing independently while collaborating appropriately with other behavioral health professionals. Maintain ethical and professional standards consistent with their respective licensing board. Preferred Clinical Experience Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Anxiety Depression Trauma and PTSD Substance Use Disorders Addiction and recovery Relapse prevention Co-occurring disorders Couples and relationship counseling Family therapy Children and adolescents Grief and loss Life transitions Emotional regulation Women's issues Blended families Attachment-based therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Gottman-informed interventions Group therapy and psychoeducation Training in specialty areas is welcomed but not required for all applicants. Practice Support Independent contract clinicians may have access to practice resources including: Flexible scheduling Client referral support Administrative support Billing support Electronic Health Record (EHR) Furnished professional office space Collaborative professional environment Opportunities to develop specialty services Opportunities to facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups Opportunities to participate in future behavioral health programs as the practice expands Ideal Candidate We are interested in clinicians who are: Compassionate and client-centered Ethical and professional Dependable Organized Trauma-informed Culturally responsive Collaborative Strong communicators Timely and accurate with clinical documentation Comfortable working independently Motivated to develop and maintain a caseload Interested in developing areas of clinical specialization Committed to providing high-quality behavioral health services Schedule Contract clinicians have flexibility in establishing their clinical availability based on practice operations, client demand, office availability, payer requirements, and mutually agreed practice parameters. Daytime and evening opportunities may be available. Compensation Compensation will be structured according to the independent contractor agreement and may vary based on professional credentials, experience, services provided, payer reimbursement, and other applicable factors. Specific compensation arrangements will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview and contracting process.
