Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Practicum Intern to join our mental health team. As a Practicum Intern Mental Health Provider, you will work under the direct supervision of mental health professionals to gain hands-on experience in providing counseling and therapy services to clients. This position offers a valuable opportunity for professional growth and development while contributing to the well-being of individuals seeking mental health support.
Responsibilities:
Counseling and Therapy Services:
Provide individual, couples, family, or group counseling sessions to clients, guided by the treatment plans and goals set by the supervising licensed mental health professionals. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions to address clients' mental health concerns.
Assessment and Diagnosis:
Assist in conducting client assessments to gather relevant information and understand their mental health needs. Collaborate with the supervising professionals in the formulation of clinical diagnoses and treatment plans.
Treatment Planning:
Contribute to the development of client-centered treatment plans, considering clients' strengths, needs, and treatment goals. Work closely with the supervising professionals to adjust treatment plans based on clients' progress and evolving needs.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and any other required documentation. Assist in preparing and submitting reports on clients' progress and outcomes as needed.
Professional Development:
Actively participate in individual and group supervision sessions with licensed mental health professionals. Engage in ongoing learning and training opportunities to enhance therapeutic skills and knowledge.
Ethical Practice:
Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards set forth by relevant licensing boards and governing bodies. Ensure client confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of service provision.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work collaboratively with the mental health team, including other interns, counselors, therapists, and support staff. Engage in team meetings and case conferences to contribute to the collaborative treatment planning process.
Outreach:
Engage in outreach activities to the communities and individuals you intend to provide therapy services to.
Requirements:
Enrollment in a master's or doctoral program in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related mental health field. Physically located in Texas at the time of your internship. Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to help others. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Willingness to receive feedback and grow professionally through supervision and training. Availability to work the number of hours required by your internship program. Current Student Liability Insurance policy
