- EIP The closing date is 13 September 2026 Apply for this job Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our dedicated Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team on the beautiful Isle of Wight.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis, supporting their recovery through evidence-based psychological interventions within a compassionate and multidisciplinary team environment. Main duties of the job As a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, you will provide high-quality specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based psychological therapies, both individually and in groups, to service users under the care of the Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. Working within professional guidelines and Trust policies, you will support individuals diagnosed with first episode psychosis and work collaboratively with families, carers and other professionals involved in their care. A strong commitment to recovery-focused practice, co-production and person-centred care is essential.
You will also:
Deliver specialist CBT interventions to individuals experiencing psychosis. Undertake comprehensive psychological assessments and formulations. Facilitate individual and group therapy programmes. Provide consultation, advice and supervision to colleagues within the multidisciplinary team. Work collaboratively with families, carers and professionals involved in service users' care. Contribute to service development, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives. Promote psychologically informed approaches across the team and wider service. Work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters where required. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualification as an RMN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Clinical Psychologist with post-qualification training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis. Applications from qualified psychological therapists without a core professional training will also be considered if they meet the other criteria. AND Accredited registration with a relevant psychological professional body (e.g.
BABCP, HCPC
). Desirable Training and qualifications in staff training, other psychological therapies, or other fields of applied psychology. Experience Essential Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of individuals and their families across a range of care settings (e.g. inpatient, community and primary care settings). Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity. Experience of working with people with psychosis. Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse. Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Ability to teach and train others. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
