Job Description

Position Overview The Therapist reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor. As a Therapist at PH Wellness, you will play a key role on our clinical team, providing compassionate, high‑quality care to clients in our detox and residential social‑model programs. Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and in accordance with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) guidelines, you will deliver clinical support, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure continuity of care. The Primary Therapist is responsible for all clinical services, treatment planning, and recordkeeping related to client care.

Clinical staff do not prescribe or administer medications. The responsibility of the position requires that the individual assist residents in recognizing that drugs and alcoholism is a disease and therapist is to motivate residents to actively participate in their own recovery process, assisting them with learning skills, and gain knowledge to improve their lives so they may live without drugs or alcohol. They will maintain positive, professional boundaries, relationships with residents, staff, physicians, visitors and other staff, and they will collect information about residents using techniques such as testing, interviewing, discussion, and observation. They will maintain confidentiality of records relating to residents' treatment, and they will prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports. They will counsel residents individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, maladjustment aiding them in making positive changes, and collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments. They will attend treatment team staff meetings, and act as resident advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations. They will perform ongoing evaluation of residents' physical or mental condition based on review of resident, and conduct one on ones with residents, meet with families and maintain resident Electronic Health Records (EHR) documents in resident file per the APA ethical codes, organization policies, state and federal regulations, and the Joint Commission standards. Competencies & Abilities Identify symptoms of alcohol or drug abuse and withdrawal (including PAWS) Gather, interpret, and report information to support detox processes Determine when referrals are needed and coordinate them appropriately Collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment plans Conduct screenings and assessments related to substance use and mental health Adhere to APA and CCAPP ethical codes Qualifications Minimum one year of experience working as a clinician in dual‑diagnosis, substance abuse, chemical dependency, psychiatric, or detox programs Licensed or registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Completion of the 6‑hour supervisor training (if applicable) Minimum two years clean and sober if in personal recovery Current CPR and First Aid certification Current TB test and health screening Knowledge Requirements 12‑Step recovery principles Social‑model detox practices Community resources, referral processes, treatment planning, recovery planning, and discharge planning Facilitation of process groups, educational groups, individual sessions, family sessions, and couples sessions Conducting assessments, biopsychosocial evaluations, mental health screenings, and progress notes Working with addiction, dual diagnosis, and mental health treatment Recognizing signs and symptoms of substance intoxication and withdrawal Skills Strong communication abilities Effective teamwork and leadership collaboration Ability to work well under pressure Skilled in assessing safety and security concerns Calm and effective in emergency situations Active listening skills Proficient computer and documentation skills
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $76,000.00 per year
