JOB SUMMARY
The Genetic Assistant supports the Genetic Counselor, Nurse Practitioners, and other program staff, and is responsible for the collection of patient information, data intake and entry, coordination of patient care and facilitation of genetic testing and lab requisitions with outside laboratories when appropriate. .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Help with genetic testing. Prepare paperwork and draft EMR orders for clinician review/signature; submit test requisitions via lab portals. Mail genetic testing kits Follow up on pending labs Record management: obtain records, upload pedigrees/reports and maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and program databases. Coordinate benefits checks, prior authorizations, and appeals with payers; track status and close loops. Manage patient encounters (clinic, telehealth, return-of-results) and multi-disciplinary meetings; document action items. Facilitate data/document transfers per policy; confirm receipt and hand-off to analysis teams. Provide frontline patient communication (email/phone), triage inquiries, and support team coverage Call negative results
