What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:
Health Educator I:
BA/BS degree in Social Science, Family Studies, Child Development, Health Education, Health Sciences, Psychology, or related field. Experience working with adolescents is preferred. Experience in providing health education and public speaking preferred. Fluency in two or more languages, including one that supports the needs of the program and community is preferred, but not required
Health Educator II:
BA/BS degree in Social Science, Family Studies, Child Development, Health Education, Health Sciences, Psychology, or related field. Must have 1 year of on-the-job experience, proficiently fulfilling the Essential Functions of a Wellness Health Educator I. Experience working with adolescents is preferred. Experience in providing health education and public speaking preferred. Fluency in two or more languages, including one that supports the needs of the program and community is preferred, but not required
Health Educator III:
BA/BS degree in Social Science, Family Studies, Child Development, Health Education, Health Sciences, Psychology or related field. Must have 1 years of on-the-job experience, proficiently fulfilling the Essential Functions of a Wellness Health Educator II. Must have necessary health and/or fitness certifications accredited from a qualified and reputable agency as required by programs scope of work. Experience working with adolescents is preferred. Experience in providing health education and public speaking preferred. Fluency in two or more languages, including one that supports the needs of the program and community is preferred, but not required
All Levels:
Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver's license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. For positions where driving is an essential function of the job, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience. As a Wellness Health Educator you will: Deliver engaging health and wellness education to youth in school and community settings on topics such as healthy relationships, reproductive health, mental health, substance use prevention, nutrition, physical activity, and overall well-being. Recruit, engage, and support youth participation in wellness programs, clubs, workgroups, workshops, and special events. Provide health coaching, education, referrals, and resources that empower youth and families to make informed decisions and advocate for their health. Utilize digital platforms, including social media, websites, podcasts, and other online tools, to develop and share youth-focused health education and prevention messaging. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, youth-serving professionals, volunteers, and local partners to support program goals. Assist with the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of wellness programs, projects, meetings, trainings, and community events. Collect, maintain, analyze, and report program data while ensuring accurate records and compliance with program requirements. Develop, update, and implement educational curricula, training materials, presentations, and outreach resources to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and relevance. Support staff development through training, mentoring, observations, quality assurance activities, and the coordination of team initiatives. Represent the program at community meetings, collaborative groups, committees, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Assist with grant-related activities, reports, program development, and other initiatives designed to expand and strengthen youth wellness services.
