$35.04 - $47.30 / hour Summary Cape Coral Hospital has a Part Time opportunity for an IBCLC certified Lactation Consultant/Maternal Educator. This is an evening shift working 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm approximately 2 shifts a week. The Lactation Consultant/Maternal Educator (LC/ME) is responsible for comprehensive maternal, infant and feeding assessments related to lactation and provides education to clients concerning pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and parenting. The LC/ME demonstrates specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding and uses the principles of adult education when teaching clients, health care providers and others in the community. Provides education and counseling in a manner that encourages informed decision making about childbirth and breastfeeding. Provides care based on established clinical nursing practice standards subscribed to by American Nursing Association and in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act. IBLCE and AWHONN standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization vision and mission. Uses knowledge of patients age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
Requirements Education:
Bachelor of Science preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years obstetrical or neonatal nursing experience and/or lactation education experience required.
Certification:
IBCLC Certification Required. Certification in Childbirth Education preferred. Current BLS required
License:
State of Florida RN required.
Other:
Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills required.
