POSITION SUMMARY
Plan and instruct classes in rock climbing. Provide participants with pertinent information, efficient service and instruct all classes within the guidelines of the Association to maintain the quality of the programs. Demonstrate a commitment to Y of Central Maryland core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of job performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to individually lead a class, respond to safety and emergency situations, motivate and educate members set up, move and store class equipment is required. Demonstrate good communication skills and display an engaging personality enabling him/her to relate well to participants. Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with children, parents and other adults as required for program area
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Knowledge of safety rules for program area. Experience Successful completion of the Y of Central Maryland Belay training within 30 days of hire. A minimum of one year of rock climbing/belay experience strongly preferred. Certifications First aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of employment. All Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people. It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
