POSITION PURPOSE
The Lactation Consultant assists mothers and babies to breastfeed successfully. The Lactation Consultant is a licensed health professional who has obtained International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners certification (IBCLC). IBCLC certified individuals with a Registered Nurse License or Non-RN CLC with IBCLC will be considered. This position is a Full-Time, benefited position, scheduled 32 hours per week. Rotating day and evening shifts supporting our Postpartum Unit and
NICU. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide direct support to breastfeeding mothers and infants across Postpartum, NICU, Pediatrics, Labor& Delivery, and other units. Assess lactation needs and document care, goals, and interventions. Educate patients and families, including those with complex lactation challenges (RN track provides advanced clinical care; see details below). Collaborate with the healthcare team on individualized feeding plans and discharge readiness. Respond to outside breastfeeding-related inquiries and provide appropriate guidance. Participate in breastfeeding policy adherence, updates, education materials, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
