Job Description

JOB The Public Health Educator plays a vital role in improving community health through the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based health education and promotion strategies. Under the general supervision of the Public Health Supervisor, the Public Health Educator works to reduce risk factors, prevent disease, and promote wellness among diverse populations across Muskegon County.

This position actively participates in community coalitions, builds partnerships, and develops educational content that addresses the root causes of morbidity, mortality, and environmental health challenges. The Public Health Educator collaborates with public, private, civic, and volunteer organizations to advance shared health goals and build healthier communities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES 1.
Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Health Sciences, Educational Behavioral Health Sciences, Health Promotion, Public Administration, Public Health, Applied Science in Community Health; ORPossess an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Health Sciences, Educational Behavioral Health Sciences, Health Promotion, Public Administration, Public Health, Applied Science in Community Health; ANDHave a minimum of four years full-time work experience in health education, behavioral health change, substance abuse prevention; ORBe a high school graduate or have successfully completed the General Educational Development Test (GED); ANDHave a minimum of eight years full-time work experience in health education, behavioral health change, substance abuse prevention.2. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

PURPOSEThe purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
