Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
The CPR Instructor MUST be certified as a BLS and/or HeartSaver instructor with the American Heart Association(AHA) and be aligned with an AHA approved Training Center. The instructor is responsible for instructing AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Heartsaver CPR & AED, and Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED courses. This instructor must be able to lead classes with students of various experience and educational backgrounds. This instructor must maintain current knowledge of basic cardiac care in order to effectively meet the training needs of students, who may have much more clinical and educational experience. CPR Instructor duties include pre-course preparation, leading classes, managing equipment, and assisting with class close-out upon completion. Instructors may be required to travel to partnering facilities to provide on-site training. Mileage for approved work-related travel will be reimbursed in accordance with NorthStar EMS and Training policies. Instructors also participate in continuous quality improvement and may assist the EMS Education Manager in program development and special projects. NorthStar EMS and Training instructors must maintain certifications at or above the level they are teaching and work actively in their field of expertise. The NorthStar EMS and Training CPR Instructor position will include the above job duties and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Certification level at or above the level of teaching, including BLS, Heartsaver CPR & AED, and Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED Working knowledge of cardiac life support and the American Heart Association Functional understanding of operating multimedia presentations Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software Ability to communicate in person, in writing, and by telephone Aptitude to establish working relationships with the public, partners, customers, and employees Maintenance of professionalism and a standard of excellence with NorthStar EMS and Training employees, managers, customers, and the public Competency to work independently, with autonomy, and to meet deadlines Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize Licensure / Registration / Certification (Required) AHA Instructor certification appropriate to the courses taught (BLS, Heartsaver CPR & AED, Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED) required Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record in accordance with NorthStar EMS and Training standards and policies
