SEXUAL HEALTH EDUCATOR
Do you enjoy working with youth and making a positive impact in your community? The North Country Prenatal/Perinatal Council (NCPPC) is seeking a full-time Sexual Health Educator to join our Youth Services team. This position is based in our Gouverneur office and serves primarily St. Lawrence County, with occasional programming in Jefferson County. As a Sexual Health Educator, you'll help adolescents build the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy, informed decisions through engaging, evidence-based education.
What You'll Do:
Facilitate interactive sexual health education programs in schools and community settings Deliver evidence-based curricula to youth ages 10-21 Build positive relationships with teachers, school staff, and community partners Participate in outreach and community activities Provide information and referrals related to reproductive health and support services Support youth from diverse backgrounds, including military-connected youth and LGBTQ+ youth Conduct workshops and presentations for parents and caregivers
Training & Professional Development:
New educators follow a structured onboarding process that includes: Observing experienced educators facilitate programming in schools and community settings Co-facilitating lessons alongside experienced staff Gradually leading lessons independently while receiving support and feedback Ongoing coaching and opportunities to strengthen facilitation and public speaking skills. Educators also receive ongoing training in evidence-based curricula, adolescent health topics, and effective facilitation strategies through webinars, online learning opportunities, conferences, and in-person professional development.
Topics You'll Teach:
Pregnancy prevention and contraception HIV and STI prevention Healthy relationships Consent and communication skills Puberty and adolescent development Reproductive anatomy Additional topics based on the needs of schools and community partners Most educational programming is delivered using established evidence-based curricula, including Making Proud Choices! and Be Proud! Be Responsible! . Educators may occasionally develop presentations on topics requested by schools and community partners, but most programming is already developed and ready to facilitate.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Education, Human Services, or a related field required. Applicants with an Associate's degree with five years of relevant experience will also be considered Experience working with youth and/or facilitating educational programs preferred Teaching certification is not required Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills Ability to create welcoming, inclusive learning environments Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
Compensation & Benefits:
