General Summary Develops, coordinates and presents childbirth education programs for the community.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions:
Provides accurate information about the physiology, psychology, and sociology of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood. Provides skills to assist women and their support persons to cope with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood. Acts as a facilitator who helps couples better understand and value their experience as they transition into parenthood. Provides an avenue for communication between the pregnant women and other members of the health care team. Serves as an advocate for pregnant women, their partners and infants. Communicates accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and early parenthood in a clear, concise, understandable manner Serves as a resource to the community by developing and planning programs in response to identified needs.

Enhances professional growth and development through advanced/continuing education to maintain up-to-date knowledge, skills, and competencies. Qualifications Minimum Education:
Associates Degree Required Work Experience:
1 year In OB specialty (labor and delivery, maternity, NICU). Required Experience as an educator in a health related field/organization.
Preferred Licenses:
Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Preferred and Heartsaver CPR/AED Upon Hire Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of adult and childhood educational principles. Strong communications skills. Quality of Life Established in 1800, Adams County includes the borough of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
