POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing fitness and wellness experiences for members which includes personal training, group exercise programs, monitoring of equipment, floor coverage and administrative duties.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides professional assistance and guidance to members as it relates to their fitness and wellness needs, including teaching classes and workshops as needed. Provides oversight to the agency fitness areas, which includes overall cleanliness and maintenance of equipment. Positions self to supervise and assist clients in personal training exercises. Identifies, instructs and monitors progress of the clients' fitness level and capabilities. Modifies exercise plans to meet the clients' needs. Demonstrates the ability to assess, identify and/or correct improper form by clients to prevent potential injury. Assists with administrative responsibilities and day-to-day support for the fitness department. Provides 35 hours of direct service including 27 hours of Personal Training and 8 hours of group exercise, subject to change based on member's needs to be determined between fitness associate and supervisor. Actively promotes and markets self and programs to generate new clients. Responsible for the recruitment and retention of clients. Maintains a high level of customer service expectations; promptly handles customer complaints and concerns. Maintains a safe and healthy environment according to established standards and guidelines. Assists with the organization and implementation of fitness promotional activities and events. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of weight training techniques. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of cardiovascular endurance training. Ability to work with a wide variety of clients, including youth, elderly and at risk populations. Works effectively with other key JCC departments to provide effective and efficient service delivery. Ability to define problems, develop solutions, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to manage and balance a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
While performing the above duties, this position routinely requires handling persons and/or objects and moving safely throughout the building. This position may include walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. This position requires communicating, either verbally or in writing. This position frequently requires moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position occasionally requires moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field or an approved personal training certification preferred, with at least three years experience working in the fitness/wellness field.
