Inspire middle schoolers with your passion for healthy living in a dynamic educational environment! A dedicated health educator is needed for a contract assignment at a junior high, beginning mid-August 2026 and continuing through late May 2027. This role focuses on engaging students in grades 6-8 with dynamic health and wellness education, fostering strong decision-making skills, and promoting lifelong wellness habits. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about adolescent health, bring creativity to classroom instruction, and are committed to building lasting rapport with students at the junior high level. Your expertise will make a valuable impact in shaping positive behaviors during critical developmental years.
What We're Seeking:
Valid Illinois Teaching License and Professional Educator License (PEL) Previous experience with general education or health instruction at the secondary level preferred Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills Ability to create inclusive, culturally responsive lesson plans Commitment to onsite instruction; remote/virtual teaching is not available for this position
Key Responsibilities:
Teach comprehensive health curriculum according to state and district standards Develop lesson plans covering topics such as nutrition, personal wellness, safety, and mental health Foster an engaging, respectful, and supportive classroom environment Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administrators Collaborate with colleagues and staff to support student success and school goals This contract role features a set schedule totaling 33.75 weekly hours, providing the opportunity to focus on classroom excellence, student development, and subject mastery.
