About the Position Breastfriends Lactation & Infant Feeding is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) to provide in-home lactation and infant feeding support to families during the early postpartum period. This is a PRN W-2 position designed for someone looking for flexible work based on patient demand and personal availability. There are no guaranteed weekly hours at this time. Responsibilities The CLC may provide support and education related to: Breastfeeding basics Latch and positioning Pumping education Flange fit education Milk production education Responsive paced bottle feeding Basic newborn feeding routines Parent education and support Documentation of each patient visit Recognizing concerns that require escalation to the IBCLC or another healthcare provider Care is provided within the Certified Lactation Counselor's established role, training and Breastfriends clinical guidelines. Schedule & Compensation $40/hour In-home visits are approximately 1 hour Paid for visit time plus applicable travel and documentation time, up to 2 compensated hours per patient visit Flexible PRN scheduling based on patient needs and provider availability Mileage reimbursement for qualifying travel between patient visits No guaranteed number of hours per week Qualifications Current Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) credential required Experience with breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, newborns and/or postpartum families preferred Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to independent patient care Successful completion of a background check required Reliable transportation Strong communication and documentation skills Comfortable providing care independently in families' homes Dependable, professional and supportive approach to working with new families Registered nurses are welcome to apply and RN experience is appreciated; however, an RN license is not utilized in this position. This is a CLC role, and employees will work within the responsibilities and scope established for the Breastfriends CLC position rather than functioning as a registered nurse. Our goal is to provide individualized, evidence-based feeding support while helping parents feel informed, supported and confident during the early postpartum period.
