Through coursework and guidance provides parents and caregivers the tools necessary to gain the knowledge and skills needed to raise physically, psychologically, and emotionally healthy children. Provide case management and coordination of services for families served through

TWB. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to use and enrich the Parents As Teachers (PAT) curriculum to successfully instruct parents and caregivers throughout a 16 week parenting series The Parent Educator will work collaboratively with families, education staff and community partners to ensure that the program meets the needs of the whole child and supports parents/guardians in addressing family needs Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students' various learning styles Knowledge of appropriate teaching styles and strategies Strong public speaking and oral presentation skills Excellent organization and time management skills Advanced technology skills to track student attendance and participation Leadership skills and patience for working with parents and children Participates in outreach to provide education on the program and services offered Provides case management services and referrals to pregnant/parenting teens/young adult women. Provides administrative support for program which includes but is not limited to enrollment and termination of clients, orientation for parents, update files, data collecting for reports and tracking/reporting attendance on program database. Conducts Need's Assessments and provides client follow-ups and file updates. Prepares classroom for each day's activities Maintains an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development. Assists team as needed while working in each community

OTHER DUTIES

Promptly reports incident and illness to the Supervisor. Submits requisitions for needed supplies and materials. Maintains appropriate communication of information with Supervisor, co-workers, and parents by attending and participating in staff meetings, participating in parent meetings and conferences, and agency meetings. Assists with curriculum and activity planning. Adhere to policies related to boundaries with and protection of clients. Complete required abuse prevention training (Safe Environment) and others, as required by program. Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities. Adhere to procedures related to managing high risk activities and supervising clients, as applicable. Supports the Mission, Values, and Vision of Catholic Charities. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred. Experience as a parent educator required. Experience working with families required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and interpersonal. Computer literate and experience with MS Word and Excel Office products. Strong organizational and time management skills required.

Pay:

$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
