Position Details Position Details Advertising/Posting Title Nutrition Educator, St. Johnsbury Region Posting Summary Do you know what it's like to shop and cook on a budget? Do you like to work with people? This opportunity with a flexible schedule and full benefits may be for you! We are hiring for a Nutrition Educator position, who would serve the Northeast Kingdom region. This is a 0.80 FTE position (30 hours/week). Eligible for UVM staff benefits. The Nutrition Educator will present nutrition and cooking classes to low-income pregnant women, families with children, and youth through the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). Have fun and help your community by teaching about shopping for healthy foods, meal planning, food preparation, food safety, and physical activity. All class materials and lesson plans are provided. Classes are taught as a series in a community location or in a home setting, both in-person and online. The Nutrition Educator may work with other federally funded programs, community grants, and fee-based contracts to deliver public education to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices. There is the potential to work with a variety of audiences throughout the County and other regions in the state. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelors degree and two years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of experience. Experience should include interacting with adults and/or youth from different demographics. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with a wide variety of audiences and effectively recruit and retain participants and collaborate with community agencies. A successful applicant must also have an Interest in or willingness to learn about healthy eating and physical activity behaviors, and excellent time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic computer skills, including MS office, email, Zoom, are essential, along with the ability to accurately input data. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge of and/or lived experience with shopping and cooking on a budget Understanding of and/or lived experience with the challenges low-income community members face Confident speaking in front of groups and engaging participants in class activities Experience teaching, formally or informally Anticipated Pay Range $25.00-$29.00/hour Other Information Position will be based in the St. Johnsbury Extension Office. Must provide own transportation to and from work sites.
