Job Description

HIM Director ASPYRE of Bronzeville is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health Information Management (HIM) Director to lead our medical records management system in accordance with state and federal regulations, professional standards of practice, and facility policies and procedures. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of medical records, maintaining confidentiality, and protecting resident health information. Essential Job Functions Lead and manage the medical records system for the facility, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and facility policies Process Release of Information (ROI) requests related to continuation of care, insurance, legal requests, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner Conduct educational programs for facility staff on Health Information Management and best practices for medical record documentation Manage the credentialing process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Audit resident charts and physician orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance Manage all physician orders, including obtaining required physician signatures and completing monthly chart reviews Scan and maintain documentation within the PCC Miscellaneous Tab Perform weekly checks of the backup eMAR system Process Additional Documentation Requests (ADRs) and communicate with the Facility Administrator, MDS Consultant, and VP of Clinical Reimbursement as needed Attend weekly team meetings, department head meetings, staff meetings, and other facility meetings Maintain strict confidentiality of resident health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations Assist with state surveys, audits, and regulatory reviews as requested Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Health Information Management, Medical Records, or a related healthcare field Previous skilled nursing or long-term care experience preferred Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or similar electronic health record systems preferred Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical records compliance requirements Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams Benefits Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Company-Paid Life Insurance Critical Illness Insurance Short-Term Disability Insurance Accident Insurance Hospital Indemnity Insurance 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan On-Demand Pay Option Paid Time Off (PTO)
