Job Description

Category Health Information Management Job Type Contract A skilled professional is sought for a six-month contract leading the daily operations of a Health Information Management Department, while serving as the designated Privacy Officer. This position offers a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at 40 hours per week. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of data integrity, regulatory compliance, and privacy across all health information activities. Compensation ranges from $2,700-$3,000 per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all Health Information Management (HIM) functions, including medical records, chart completion, coding review, and release of information workflows Administer the organization's HIPAA privacy program: lead investigations, manage breach assessments, reporting, and audits Develop and update HIM and privacy policies, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards Prepare and track departmental budgets, productivity, and quality metrics Supervise staffing, training, and professional development for HIM personnel Serve as the primary resource for privacy incidents, risk assessment, and government reporting obligations Collaborate with clinical, compliance, IT, registration, and other leadership groups Act as Custodian of Medical Records, supporting all confidentiality, retention, and disclosure activities
Required Qualifications:
Minimum two years of medical coding experience Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, privacy regulations, medical record management, and confidentiality standards Demonstrated HIM leadership experience preferred; experience in Critical Access Hospital or Rural Health Clinic a plus Recognized healthcare privacy, compliance, coding, or HIM certification (or willingness to obtain) Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills
Preferred Background:
Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field Experience with privacy investigations, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, fraud and abuse laws, or compliance education Elevate your career in Health Information Management with a leadership role making meaningful impact on organizational compliance, privacy, and quality healthcare delivery. to be considered for this important assignment.
