Job Description
Job Summary:
Works 1 day a week with the opportunity to work more should the need arise. Answer phones, greet and assist people who arrive to the unit using AIDET. Provide clerical and administrative support for the unit and staff such as data entry, inventory/supplies ordering, patient flow activities such as admissions, discharges, and other patient/department paperwork. Support regulatory documentation and audit readiness. Coordinate with CR departments and services such as laboratory, environmental services, etc. Assist the RN and ED physician with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice and under direct supervision of the registered nurse. Perform a variety of patient care duties such as but not limited to patient transporter, venipuncture, vital signs, non-sterile dressings and EKG's. Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences. Uphold and promote patient confidentiality, safety and quality. Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, safety and Joint Commission standards. Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Proficient computer skills required. BLS certification required within six (6) weeks of employment. Venipuncture class required within six (6) weeks of employment. Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively interact with all health team members, patients and visitors.Experience:
One (1) year experience in acute care hospital and/or patient care assistant preferred but not required. Demonstrated work history of computer and organizational skills. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Additional Skills/Abilities:
Must have ability to prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment that includes frequent interruptions and time-sensitive demands.Benefits
