Caregiver / Respite Care Provider Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient Caregiver/Respite Care Provider to support an individual and provide temporary relief for their primary caregiver. The ideal candidate will help maintain a safe, comfortable, and positive environment while assisting with daily activities, companionship, and personal care needs. This position requires someone who is trustworthy, attentive, respectful, and capable of providing care based on the individual's specific needs and established care plan. Key Responsibilities Provide supervision, companionship, and emotional support. Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and mobility, when needed. Prepare light meals and assist with feeding, if necessary. Provide medication reminders according to the family's instructions. This position does not include administering medication unless properly authorized and qualified. Assist with light housekeeping related to the individual's care, such as washing dishes, changing linens, and keeping the care area organized. Accompany the individual to appointments, activities, or errands when requested. Engage the individual in appropriate recreational, educational, or social activities. Monitor and report any changes in behavior, mood, health, or overall condition to the family or designated supervisor. Follow all safety procedures, care instructions, and household guidelines. Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies. Maintain the individual's privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times. Provide dependable respite support so the primary caregiver can rest, attend appointments, or handle other responsibilities. Required Skills and Qualifications Previous caregiving, respite care, personal care, childcare, healthcare, or related experience is preferred. Compassionate, patient, dependable, and respectful. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written and verbal care instructions. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Comfortable assisting with personal care and mobility needs. Must be punctual and maintain reliable attendance. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and any required screenings. Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and a clean driving record may be required. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within an agreed-upon timeframe. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Physical Requirements The caregiver may be required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist with transferring or repositioning the individual. The applicant should be able to safely lift or support up to 50 pounds, depending on the individual's needs. Preferred Candidate The preferred candidate will be kind, responsible, attentive, and genuinely interested in helping others. Experience working with seniors, children, individuals with disabilities, or individuals with special healthcare or behavioral needs is a plus.
