Hourly Salary Range:

This position is assigned to ten (10) 24-hour shifts per month, on a 56-hour work week which includes nights, weekends and holidays. Position is non-exempt and overtime eligible; some mandatory overtime will be required.

FUNCTIONS
This position is responsible to respond to medical emergencies, provide Basic Life Support (BLS), and medical transportation services to the sick and injured. Duties include, but are not limited to the following Provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) treatment and transportation in accordance with Arizona laws, Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) rules and regulations, regional protocols, Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department policies and procedures, and base station medical direction. Operates an emergency ambulance in emergent and non-emergent driving environments. Administers emergency medical care utilizing accepted guidelines of basic life support procedures in treating the sick and injured; examine patients and communicate physical assessment findings to base hospital physicians. Operates a variety of medical equipment including but not limited to suction units, pulse oximeters, splints, and oxygen administration equipment. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other certification specific skills/procedures within scope of practice. Maintains minimum inventory of EMS equipment and supplies; cleans apparatus and equipment; performs general custodial duties and inspects and cleans emergency ambulances. Participates in EMS training programs, community service/public safety education events, and other related programs. Required to work mandatory overtime to ensure adequate level of service. May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience:
No prior experience is required.
Education:
Requires High School Diploma, GED, or equivalency. Certifications, Licenses, and/or
Registrations:
Possession of a valid driver's license. Possession of or need to obtain prior to employment, an Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT) certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certification with an
ADHS EMCT. NOTE
