Lead Kennel Technician Join Our Team as a Lead Kennel Technician! We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized person to join our veterinary team. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment, enjoys working collaboratively, and is passionate about providing exceptional patient care. As our Lead Kennel Technician, you will oversee the daily care of hospitalized patients while supporting the kennel team, and working closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure every patient receives outstanding care.

What you will do:

Lead by example by fostering a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment. Oversee the daily care and monitoring of multiple hospitalized patients. Prioritize patient care based on medical needs, treatment schedules, and changes in patient condition. Safely handle dogs and cats of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions. Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized kennel and treatment areas. Assist with feeding, walking, bathing, and monitoring patients while accurately documenting observations. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, reception staff, and fellow kennel team members. Train, mentor, and support kennel assistants with varying levels of experience. Create and maintain the M-F Kennel staff schedule. Ensure hospital protocols, safety procedures, and patient care standards are consistently followed.

What we are looking for:

Must have: Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or animal care facility. Demonstrated experience caring for multiple hospitalized patients simultaneously is preferred. Strong understanding of patient handling, restraint techniques, and recognizing changes in patient condition. Ability to independently prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a busy hospital environment. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively alongside team members of all ages and experience levels. Dependable, adaptable, and able to remain calm under pressure. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and spend extended periods standing, walking, bending, and kneeling. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who comes into the role with confidence in patient care, understands the importance of teamwork, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.
