Job Description

Job Summary:
The Pediatric Care Technician (PCT)/Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is an unlicensed multi skilled worker who supports both patient care and non patient care activities for the patient. Responsibilities include performing specific nursing tasks and support functions as delegated by a licensed provider while supervised by a Registered Nurse, providing clerical support to the unit staff and physicians, coordinating referrals, and managing the patient medical records.
Qualifications:
Education High School Diploma (required) Program Graduate of a patient care program (i.e.
MA, CNA, EMT
) (required) Or Program One semester of an RN or LVN program (required) Or Equivalent Two years in a similar role in lieu of patient care program or nursing program requirement (required) Or Equivalent Current Valley Children's Pediatric Nurse Extern (required) Licenses and Certifications BLS
  • Basic Life Support
  • AHA•American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required) CHUC•Certified Health Unit Coordinator•NAHUC•National Association of Health Unit Coordinators (preferred) Work Experience Minimum six (6) months Providing direct patient care (preferred) Skills and Abilities Ability to work in a team environment and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.
Medical terminology skills preferred. Bilingual Skills Preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
