As an EMT - Basic, you will be the first line of medical assistance, providing essential life-saving interventions and patient support with energy and compassion. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes and community health. Responsibilities Respond swiftly to emergency calls, providing immediate medical attention and stabilization on scene. Assess patient conditions through thorough physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, and detailed patient assessments. Manage airway patency using airway management techniques and administer basic life support (BLS) procedures as needed. Perform critical care transport by safely transporting patients to hospitals or trauma centers while maintaining continuous patient monitoring. Execute medication administration, including injections and other emergency medications, following proper aseptic techniques and medical protocols. Conduct triage at scenes or hospital settings to prioritize patient care based on severity and physiological needs. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care reports, vital signs, medical interventions, and transport details for legal and medical records. Operate emergency vehicles safely, adhering to traffic laws while managing heavy lifting and physical demands during patient handling. Qualifications Valid EMT - Basic certification with current licensure in good standing Ambulance Drivers License Orange County EMT Accreditation CPR Certified Strong driving skills with a clean driving record; ability to handle heavy lifting during patient transfers or equipment setup. Prior experience in critical care environments such as hospital emergency rooms or trauma centers is highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency in airway management, vital signs assessment, and basic pharmacology related to emergency medicine. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, venipuncture techniques, and DME (Durable Medical Equipment). Experience with patient assessment tools such as trauma scoring systems or triage protocols. Ability to perform physical examinations under stressful conditions while maintaining aseptic technique.
