Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Provides patient care activities under the direction of Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists patient with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patient/residents.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • High school graduate or GED preferred.
  • Completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant program OR be listed as having passed CNA competency testing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker registry. May be certified as a medic or Combat Lifesaver (through military duty) or have EMS certification as a base provider.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others.
  • Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills required.
  • Must work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Previous acute or long-term care experience preferred.
  • Technical and critical thinking skills required to perform duties.
